The workout of Ryan Reynolds
Ryan and I both share exactly the same hometown of Vancouver, British Columbia. That is why I am one of his biggest fans. Back then in 1998, he wasn’t noted for much. He was a thin, lanky guy who was basically living out of a inn in LA.
Go forward now to 2011 and we’ve seen him named the Sexiest Man Alive by People Magazine, and is probably the most envied body in Hollywood right now. It’s not really his size that gets him all this attention, but his capability to put on the excellent amount of muscle in perfect places, along with a wicked low bodyfat percentage to display it all off.
What most people want to know is how he did that. Most especially since he didn’t always look like that. In fact, prior to the 2005 filming of The Amityville Horror, he had quite an underwhelming body. It was certainly absolutely nothing to take a second look at. Reynolds recently admitted in interviews that it’s very difficult for him to gain muscle normally.
The workout that Reynolds made use of is designed by Rusty Moore.
His coach, Darren Chapman (also the coach of Jessica Biel), thought it was crucial to put Reynolds on a personalized diet to help put the muscle on. You see, Ryan is what most people in the fitness industry would call a hard gainer.
He needed to eat constantly. His trainer required him to eat about every two-three hours. In fact, the number of meals he had to consume will amount to ten times. Your body doesn’t need to store fat for energy if you’re feeding it all the time, Reynolds explains.
I attribute my results mostly to nutrition - Ryan Reynolds
Ryan learned a great deal about building muscle while researching for his roles in The Amityville Horror and Blade: Trinity. What he learned is that about 80% of his muscle building is attributed to diet. We got the food down to a science, making sure I was getting enough calories to gain mass, but not fat. My diet includes protein bars, chicken, fish and oatmeal. I ate a lot of small meals all day long. These meals are a good combination of proteins and carbs. A no-carb diet is not recommended. It will not give your body what it needs.
If you’re serious about transforming your body, a custom-made nutrition plan is crucial. Everyone needs a slightly different volume of food, depending on their current weight, activity level, and goals. You can know a lot more by watching this video:
However, this is not all about nutrition. Without doing any working out session, he would not have achieved the body that he has now.
The coach that Ryan has worked with is one of the members of UK’s Olympic bobsled team. The training that Ryan experienced is similar as that of an Olympic training.
If you do not love your work out, you will not do it. It is best to design an exercise plan that will give you what you need. - Ryan warns.
“Work outs were about 2-3 hours”, Ryan tell us. It begins with a sit-up. Then heavy weights for muscle bulk. I’m a pretty scrawny guy therefore we cut cardio entirely and just focused on bulking up. The weight training that I did has different kinds if exercises. At first, it was hard to do but it gets easy afterwards.
Due to Ryan’s hard gainer genetic makeup, he was lucky enough to not have to worry about cardio at all. He’d work one part of the body per day, one day dedicated to chest, one to back, one to legs, one to shoulders, and combined in arms somewhat randomly.
Ryan Reynolds also took advantage of the Shrink Wrap Effect.
In the Shrink Wrap effect, you will lose weight a lot more than what you intend to, maintain it for a few months then earn weight to get your desired weight. This allows you skin to shrink a little which supplies your body with a stretched effect on your muscle mass and body. As a result, your body will look a lot leaner.
That’s pretty much it. With this in mind, you should learn that a combination of good diet and a great workout routine is what you need in getting the body that you want. That said, you don’t have to spend your life savings on a personal trainer and dietician to get results like Ryan Reynolds. A simple yet unbelievably effective customized diet plan like this one and a killer work out like this one is all you need.
